My favorite 10 photos from 2025 (so far!)
As we hit the halfway mark of the year, I thought it’d be fun to look back at some of my favorite images from this year. From corporate galas and conferences to community festivals and one-of-a-kind landscapes, 2025 has already been packed with incredible moments, energy, and people.
Here are my top 10 photos (so far!), in no particular order.
1. Breathing fire, at Circus Wonderland
It might be freezing during the World of Winter Festival, but the performers at Circus Wonderland do their best to bring the heat. This shot was all about timing — being in the right place at just the right moment to capture the energy and spirit of the event in one frame. Client: Downtown Grand Rapids Inc.
2. Hitting the dance floor, at the VITALITY Gala
After a formal dinner celebrating University of Michigan Health-West’s dedication to cancer care, guests at the VITALITY Gala took to the dance floor. For the past two years, I’ve served as lead photographer for the event, working alongside two associate photographers to capture everything from on-stage speakers and VIP parties, to a photo wall and candid moments in-between. Client: University of Michigan Health-West
3. A new dimension of pet care in West Michigan
I had the pleasure of photographing Lovet Pet Health Care’s grand opening in Walker, MI, celebrating their expansion into the Michigan market. With over 40 years of experience, Lovet is known for delivering exceptional veterinary care and a deep commitment to pets and their people. Client: Lovet Pet Health Care
4. The grandest canyon, in Arizona
After wrapping up World of Winter, I headed to Arizona for a change of scenery — only to be greeted by unexpectedly wintry weather. Still, the conditions made for some unforgettable moments, like this morning scene with dense fog rolling over the Grand Canyon. And yes … that is snow in the foreground!
5. Celebrating Pride month, at Riverpride
The first-ever Riverpride was packed with fun and festivities for all ages. This candid moment during a face painting session is one of my favorites, as it perfectly captures the vibrant colors and joyful spirit that filled the event. Client: Downtown Grand Rapids Inc.
6. Celebrating and supporting scholars for GRPS
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had the honor of photographing the annual Mindshare Gala for the Grand Rapids Public Schools Foundation. This wide shot captures the energy of the evening — and the community’s unwavering support for the district’s scholars. Client: Grand Rapids Public Schools Foundation
7. Embracing the winter
Another moment from the World of Winter Festival, this shot captures what the event is all about. The wonder and excitement on kids’ faces as they take it all in is always one of my favorite things to photograph. Client: Downtown Grand Rapids Inc.
8. Colorful, edible dimensions
Ada’s newest wine bar, The Lark, brought me in to photograph a few of their standout menu items. The color and depth in each dish was truly impressive. This deconstructed sushi was a highlight of the shoot, giving me the chance to get creative and really showcase its vibrant presentation. Client: The Lark Wine Bar
9. Deep in the canyon
Arizona was full of incredible sights, but Antelope Canyon easily topped the list. The textures, patterns, and shifting light were stunning in person, and even more rewarding to capture through the lens. This shot is just one of many favorites from that unforgettable visit.
10. Welcome to summer, with City Built
Captured just as I was leaving, this photo perfectly captures the spirit of City Built’s Block Party — celebrating summer vibes, a tight-knit brewery community, and the company’s eighth anniversary. Client: Downtown Grand Rapids Inc.
Looking back on these moments, I’m reminded how diverse and dynamic events can be — and how every one offers a new story to tell. It’s only July, and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year brings.
Got a favorite? Let me know which photo stood out to you — or better yet, let’s make some new images together at your next event.
