silence.

Over the past several weeks, I’ve been out photographing the state of downtown Grand Rapids during the coronavirus pandemic. What I’ve been capturing is both eery and striking. Empty city streets. No cars, very little people.

The image to the left is one of my favorites, taken atop a parking garage (with the city’s blessing). It was taken through glass, meaning a lot of post-production work was also required. I relied on both Capture One and Luminar for processing this.

With the coronavirus pandemic and stay at home orders, it’s been anything but business as usual for myself and fellow photographers. As someone who captures corporate and community events for a living, I’m finding myself having to pivot how I do my work. Photographs like this for Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. and Experience Grand Rapids have been important, not only as a businessperson, but also to document the state of life around us.
