What about stock photos? Showing your company’s personality through photography

When I used to be a website designer, a lot of the photographs I’d work with were stock photos we’d find for our clients. These were cheap, easy ways to get their message across visually. And they did the trick.

But they didn’t help tell the story. The atmosphere. The personality of the company.

Why stock photos don’t do the trick

Stock photos are great for filling space. They’re great to ensure that you have enough applicable photographs on your website or other mediums.

But stock photos don’t show your company. They don’t show the work you’re doing, or the people behind the scenes. They don’t tell your customers “this is who you’ll be working with and here’s how they work.” Instead, stock photos are generic. Anyone can use them … even your direct competitors.

Why custom photographs help bring out the best in your company

I’ve worked with several clients over the years to capture corporate lifestyle images. These are scenes that we setup — with their staff and their customers — to showcase what the company is like.

Do you offer custom home theatre or kitchen installations? Send a photographer out to capture those as they take place. Are you an ice cream shop? Get some neighborhood kids pumping hot fudge or adding sprinkles on top of their favorite treats.

Custom photographs tell your customers exactly what to expect from their future experience with you. This can help you appear more trustworthy, fun and can help showcase your expertise. It tells them who they’ll be working with, what to expect during the work, and what the end result will be.

Instead of just purchasing stock photos, consider custom corporate lifestyle photographs. I’d love to talk to you more about how I can help!
